"Smile in your heart" By Diane Webb
Psalms 40: 3—"And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord."
What comes out of your mouth can separate you from the Lord. God does not want you speaking ill of others (even if what you say is truthful). He wants each and every word you speak to bring him glory not shame. You do not have to be the one to speak the ugly truths. You are to only speak what is kind, wholesome, and uplifting to others. Leave the negative for someone else to speak—not you. Do not bad-mouth people and do not glorify past sins. Do not speak of all the things you have done and the "fun" you had as a sinner. This does not bring joy to the Lord and does not lift you up in his kingdom. Let the words of your mouth be pleasing in the Lord's sight. Hold your peace more than you speak. Keep a smile in your heart when you are talking to others. Let them see the light from within you shine forth through your eyes. Let them hear the peace of the Lord come out of your mouth. Never again let your words cause another's spirits to lower.
Dear Lord, forgive me for anything I have said that is displeasing to you. Thank you for pointing out the ways I have mistakenly hurt you and others. I pray for the self-control to keep my thoughts and words positive. Help me keep that smile in my heart. I ask in the name of Jesus, Amen.
