"Listening" By Diane Webb

Psalms 37: 3—"Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed."

As you see people today remember to demonstrate the love of Jesus. Jesus loves you and he loves all people. Have a compassionate heart and listen. Don't be in a big hurry. Slow down, take your time, and allow others to say whatever they want to say to get things off their chests. They need someone to listen and just be there for a while. Have patience with those who are slower than normal. Pray for them while you are present there with them. Help them know God through you. They will be able to see God's love in your eyes. It's an awesome responsibility to be able to hear what they have to say. They have no one else to really talk to. Keep up your spirits. Your time in this role will soon be over. You will be moved on to other things that are also important. Let your time with these people count for something. For just the brief time you are there let them feel important too. They will see God before you do. This is the good you can do today. This is the small thing for the kingdom of God.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the opportunity to hear what others need to say. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your kingdom. Help me be there for others and be able to listen patiently—today and every day. Help me show others the love of Christ by my demeanor, my eyes, and my words. Help me be a comforting presence for your children. In Christ's name I pray, Amen.
